About Us

Since 1982, Attorney Martin has provided legal services to working people in York County and Southern Maine, first in a small law firm and, since 1996, as a sole practitioner. He graduated from the University of Maine School of Law in 1982 and was admitted to the bar later that year.

 

He attended the University of Maine at Machias for two years before transferring to University of Maine at Orono where he was graduated with high distinction, with degrees in journalism and political science.

 

He worked as a newspaper reporter for more than four years, first with Tuesday Weekly out of Ellsworth, then with the Bangor Daily News in Machias and Bangor.

 

He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1970 until 1974.

 

In addition to the many news and feature stories he wrote for the Bangor Daily News and Tuesday Weekly, his work has appeared in the National Fisherman and other publications.

 

His article, "Sovereign Immunity and the Maine Tort Claims Act" was published in the Maine Law Review in 1982.

 

He has been active in civic affairs in Saco; he served on the City's Zoning Board of Appeals from 1984 to 1987, and from 1994 to 2004. He chaired that Board from 1998 to 2004. He also served on the Saco Historic Preservation Commission from 1994 to 1996.

 

He lives in Saco with his wife Sandy and their three children, Emily, Eliza and Alex. In his spare time he enjoys gardening, basketball, golf, bicycling, hiking and camping.

 

Janet Devou and Sharon Murphy provide friendly, competent assistance to attorney Martin.

 

Janet is a native of Thames Ditton, England, but has lived in Old Orchard Beach since 1983. She has worked with attorney Martin since 1992.

 

Sharon was born and brought up in Southern Maine and came to our team in 1997.
